When It Looks Like the Wolves Won

When It Looks Like the Wolves Won

I strongly dislike seeing wolves ravage sheep in the “House of God.” When sheep are killed by wolves it is a painful thing to absorb. At times it feels like the wolves are winning. It feels like they are devouring everything that they can. It seems like nothing can stop the wolves from doing harm. The wolves power comes from the sheep’s lack of understanding of how dangerous the wolves really are.

If you stay in the perfect will of God, the path that God has laid out before you is a secure thing. As a sheep you can lean upon the Good Shepherd for His provision and protection but when you step out of that perfect will, the Good Shepherd does not have to provide or protect. This is something that sheep take for granted.

Wolves use the sheep’s stupidity against them. This stupidity comes in many forms, but the worst is the sheep’s ability to be deceived. Without the guidance of the Holy Spirit sheep are subject to strong delusions. These delusions come from within the sheep themselves. They center on the sheep focusing upon how great their anointing is or how great God is going to use them. These misfocuses cause the sheep to run after everyone who says that they are something. When this occurs, the sheep miss critical training that will keep them from not correctly discerning the voice of God. When this happens they will follow any voice that strokes their ego. This has proven fatal time and again.

But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. James 1: 14 – 15.

Sometimes the sheep’s delusions lead them right to the wolves. The sheep make easy targets because of this desire to make this delusions come to pass. Wolves act and react on the weaknesses of the sheep. They find their points of deception and before you know it the sheep is dead. The sheep made a dumb decision and it costed them their ministry, their life and the life of their family. There is no comfort in this because if the sheep would have done what was right, they would not have suffered the grave consequences that come from walking in their own deception.

The sheep do not know any better and they cannot see that the enemy has them in their mouth. The sheep cannot feel the wolve’s fangs around their necks. All the sheep know is what they were doing at the moment feels good, feels like God, and it seems like the right thing to do. When the warning went out the sheep chose to ignore the warning. When this decision is made, there is nothing that can be done. Sometimes God gives the sheep grace and sometimes they have ignored His warnings too many times and the end result will be loss. This is a hard thing.

Every sheep is precious to God and they should be precious to you. They are your brother, or your sister and they mean something. You need to have the heart of David when it comes to the sheep. David went after anything that went after the sheep. David denied the wolves of their last satisfying bites at the sheep.

But David said to Saul, “Your servant used to keep his father’s sheep, and when a lion or a bear came and took a lamb out of the flock, I went out after it and struck it, and delivered the lamb from its mouth; and when it arose against me, I caught it by its beard, and struck and killed it. 1 Samuel 17:34-35 (NKJV)

David’s heart was full of responsibility when it came to the sheep. It is the heart of God. We must have this same heart. When the wolves come, we need to deny them the satisfaction of that last bite. If we develop this mentality, we will see that the wolves never win. Selah
