What May Come Upon You, Depends on You

There are many messages encouraging us to have faith in this season. We must heed all those messages and forever make them a part of our everyday living. The battlefield is in the mind, but God gives us the weapons we need to fight the enemy. The enemy likes to plague us with what ifs. We cannot allow ourselves to go there. This goes beyond just being positive and using the power of your mind. God is not asking for your mental ascent, nor is He asking for you to just be positive. This is a level of discipline that the Father is asking us to walk in right now.

It is possible in Christ to maintain your peace and love for God without leaving your common sense. It is possible to look at all the facts and not be overwhelmed beyond belief. There are facts and then there are the promises of God. The promises of God are what we need to be focused on in this season. If we stray from the promises of God, we can take the short road into fear. Fear will lead you into darkness. Fear will lead you into opening a door for the enemy to come in and steal everything that God has for you. Listen at the wisdom of Job.

For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me,

And what I dreaded has happened to me. {Job 3:25 (NKJV)}

When you open the door for fear, you can be the vessel that the enemy uses to destroy you. Strange isn’t it? Have you ever considered that you could be the one that is opening the door for destruction in your life? God really spoke through Job when Job said what I dreaded has happened to me. Selah this. What you dread happens to you. This is why it is so important to focus on what God has promised you. Your focusing on what God promised to you is an activation of your faith and it shows God that you are in agreement with Him.

When you focus on what you dread the same principle applies, you are putting your faith in that thing that you dread. This agreement with the enemy gives him the power to make things happen in your life. This truth applies to everything that is going on now. What are the media outlets known for focusing on? The fear, the dread, the hysteria that is generated by a particular situation. This is what gets people to tune in, to read, to listen in because it stirs something on the inside of the news consumer. It feeds them. Garbage in, garbage out. Could this be why depression, anxiety, and suicide are at all-time highs? You can be the judge of that.

What I know is this. We have been given weapons and tools to combat fear. We need to use them to make sure that when we are attacked by fear that we overcome that fear with God’s promises and the truth. Take Jobs words to heart and do not let the thing that you greatly fear come upon you. It does depend upon you.

Selah!
